So last week was fun, I went to a Griffin House concert at Jammin Java, and enjoyed it a lot. Griffin House is similar to Damien Rice and put on a great show. I will definitely be buying his CDs and seeing him again if comes back around to this area. The concert itself was at a very cool coffee house sort of place, small and intimate, my kind of venue. Later on in the week I went and saw Damien Rice in DC, he was pretty amazing. I love the fact that he just came out and started playing, no opening band, which kept the concert shorter and you only saw what you came to see. His lyrics are very touching and Constitution Hall is definitely a great place to see a concert. The only disappointing part about the Rice concert was the fact that his Female band member Lisa Hannigan was no longer in the band, which left some of the songs where she normally is a big part lacking, specifically "9 Crimes", he did a good part of singing it solo, but it would have been much better with her, all and all a great show however.
So why do you fill my sorrow
With the words you've borrowed
From the only place you've know
And why do you sing Hallelujah
If it means nothing to you
Why do you sing with me at all?
